Afternoon snacks

Your kids get home from school, and they are starved.  Some had lunch as early as 10:40.  You are rushing to try to help them get their homework done, get to their activities, and make dinner.  Planning can make your job easier.

Keep a list on the refrigerator of healthy snacks.  Have fruits and vegetables already cut up and in Tupperware ready to eat.  Talk with your kids at a different time about some healthy snacks.

Here are some quick ideas. Try to stay away from the fruit roll ups and fruit snacks.  Even granola bars aren’t the healthiest especially if you have them all the time. If you have others please send them in and we can keep a list going.

Yogurt and fruit are always great snacks.

Tortilla with melted cheese, olives, corn, tomatoes is quick and easy in the microwave.

Cheese and crackers are good as long as they take some out and put on a plate and don’t keep going back for more.

A half of a turkey or tuna sandwich provides great protein and fiber.

A turkey roll up with turkey rolled around cream cheese or turkey rolled around a cuccumber.

A few cookies are ok once in a while if they have a cup of milk with it.

Frozen fruit is always refreshing.

Please, send in more ideas of quick and healthy afternoon snacks.
