Winter Blahs

Winter is starting to wear on me, and my family.  I’m sure a lot of you are feeling the same way.  The weather is starting to warm up a little so there is some hope that spring will eventually come.  To break some of our cabin fever we went to the auto show last weekend.  I know my kids are tired of our house because they kept making me get into cars and “drive” them to Florida, Georgia, Mexico or Africa.  I have no idea who their travel agent is.  When we were leaving one of them even tried to escape with another family who didn’t have their winter coats on.

This weekend we are going to an indoor water park.  I have to admit that this trip is as much for me as it is for them.  I’m definitely the Dad dragging their terrified 2 year old down a water slide and wondering why she won’t talk to me for the rest of the day.  Lucky for me I did that enough to my 4 year old daughter that she now loves going on the slides with me.  After we are done doing what I want she gets me back by swimming around in the pool in her life jacket making me play “mermaid” with her.

As I finish typing this I am listening to Bob Ueker on the radio.  Now I’m sure Spring is on the way.  Do you have any activities you like to do to make the end of winter go by faster?

I know it is late to be responding to this since winter is gone. However since it rains a lot in spring, they may still work for you. Our family likes to have unplanned picnics in the family room. We also like to set up tents and camp out. We even roast hot dogs and smores in the fireplace. The kids (ages 4 & 1) think it is so much fun and that beg for more.
