H1N1 vaccine available now: Must read

We have received a new shipment of H1N1 vaccine today.  We are scheduling appointments for the H1N1 vaccine at this time.  Before calling for an appointment, please read the following.

We are scheduling appointments for nasal spray and for injectable vaccine.

The nasal spray is only available for children 2 years and older, without asthma, chronic medical conditions, or being around someone that is immune compromised.  In addition, there must be 28 days between the seasonal nasal spray, mmr, or varicella and the H1N1 mist.

The injectable vaccine is available for any child between 6 months and 2 years of age and children older than 2 years with chronic medical problems.  These include diabetes, asthma, or other similar problems that prevent the child from receiving the nasal spray version.

Injectable appointments are only available for children that do not qualify for the nasal spray.  If you are interested in injectable H1N1 vaccine and your child qualifies for the nasal spray, you will need to check back at a later time to see if the priority changes.

Please note that the injectable vaccine is a multi-dose vaccine and contains thimerisol.  If you require non-thimerisol vaccine, this is not available at this time.

H1N1 vaccine: No longer available

This is an update on the H1N1 vaccine availability at Bayshore Pediatrics.

As of 2:00 today, all available H1N1 vaccine appointments have been made for the doses we have and the H1N1 vaccine is no longer available.  We are not making appointments until shipments have arrived to the unknown nature of the shipping plan.     We recommend checking the blog frequently.  The blog is up-to-date with the most recent information, regardless of the date posted (for example, if you see a post from a couple of days ago, that will be the most recent and up-to-date information).

H1N1 vaccine update: A limited supply is available

We have limited supply of the nasal spray which is for children 2 years and up, without asthma or wheezing, and have not had the seasonal flu nasal within the last 30 days.   Due to the limited amount of doses we have, we are making appointments for Thursday and Friday.  Please note that when calling in for an appointment for the vaccine, the timing is limited.  The injectable is not available at this time.

Please see the previous post regarding the City of Milwaukee clinics as well.

City of Milwaukee announces H1N1 vaccine clinic

We understand the frustration that everyone is feeling and expressing regarding the H1N1 vaccine.  We sincerely wish that we were in a better position and understanding of the process and shipment to assist ALL of our patients for the best protection.   Unfortunately, the status of the vaccine shipments has changed to the point that we are unsure if we will be receiving any shipments in the future.

To assist some of our patients in obtaining the vaccine at other locations, please see below.

The City of Milwaukee Health Department will hold a large public clinic for select eligible persons this Friday, Oct 30th.  The clinic will be held at Sara Scott Middle School from 2-7PM.  Sara Scott Middle School is located at 1017 N 12th St.  Only, Intranasal H1N1 is available for this clinic. Given the limited supply, the target population for this public clinic will be:

  •  healthy children 2-4 years of age
  •  healthy household contacts and caregivers (that do not have underlying health conditions) to infants <6 mos and are ages 5-49 years
  •  healthcare workers ages 2-49 yrs without underlying health conditions

Please feel free to check back here for up to date information as we receive it.

H1N1 vaccine update
